A family-run estate over 4 generations
Today Château du Taillan is a family-run estate owned and managed by five sisters. Purchased by Henri Cruse in 1896, 4 generations have succeeded each other until the present female owners. A "Versailles" at the doorstep of Bordeaux and the Medoc region, Château du Taillan is one of the most charming estates of the Gironde region. You will discover a classical XVIII century castle with unique underground cellars, registered as a historic momument.
Armelle Cruse, passionnate about wine, continues to pour her love and energy into the family-run estate.
"We cultivate 28 hectares of red vines with the traditional grapes from the Haut-Medoc appellation: Merlot for its smoothness and fruity touches, Cabernet Sauvignon for its structure and complexity as well as Cabernet Franc for its aromatic richness. Furthermore we possess 2 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc. Our ‘terroir’ combines the typically Medoc gravel soil with limestone and clay soils which allows us to play around with the grapes."
The Cruse family and its team opens their wine cellars everyday from 10am to 6pm and on Sunday upon reservation. The program offers a gourmet visit, a "privilege" visit, a "keys to the cellar" visit, a vertical visit...
